Beginning today, August 12, the American Family Insurance Championship and Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation are accepting applications from nonprofit organizations to be considered for grants from this year’s proceeds.
Applications may be submitted via this grant portal.
Since 2016, the event has raised $21.7 million distributed via 1,171 grants to the American Family Children’s Hospital and other local charitable organizations. This year’s proceeds will add to those totals and will be announced later this year at the annual grant celebration event held at American Family’s national headquarters.
Eligibility
Grant applications will be accepted from nonprofit organizations with a focus on strong families and healthy kids, with preference given to organizations serving the Wisconsin communities in Dane and Rock counties.
Strong families’ programs support stability by helping meet basic needs (such as housing, food security and clothing) and advancing employment opportunities. Healthy kids’ programs promote child wellbeing through nutrition, physical activity and recreation, education, counseling/mental wellbeing, and other physical wellbeing efforts—prioritizing approaches that empower participants by reducing barriers and expanding access to resources.
New grant awards in 2026
New for 2026, in addition to the ongoing support of the American Family Children’s Hospital, the Foundation will award the following grants:
- 10 “signature” awards of $25,000 each to organizations making a significant impact in their communities and aligning directly with the Foundation’s mission.
- 100 awards of $5,000 each to other eligible and mission-aligned organizations.
“We continue to be inspired by the outstanding work nonprofit organizations do in our community and encourage them to apply for a grant from the 2026 AmFam Champ proceeds,” said Nate Pokrass, tournament director and executive director of the Foundation. “The primary objective of our tournament has always been having a positive and meaningful charitable impact in our communities. We look forward to sharing our 2026 proceeds and strengthening that impact.”
Applications accepted through September 9
The deadline for application submissions is 5 p.m. central on Wednesday, September 9. Applications will be reviewed by the Foundation, with grant recipients announced in November.
