The Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation
The American dream is kept alive by those who pursue it. That’s why the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation is working to show young people that their dreams are not only attainable but worth the effort. The foundation supports charities, educational initiatives and organizations aimed at building strong families and healthy kids, empowering them to chase and achieve their dreams.
Impact
Results and Impact
Since 2016, the American Family Insurance Championship has raised more than $17 million for charity. Through the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation, more than 840 grants have been distributed to organizations that support strong families and healthy kids.

Tournament Primary Beneficiary: American Family Children’s Hospital
American Family Children’s Hospital is a comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center featuring nationally recognized pediatric specialists in a wide range of fields. Located in Madison, Wisconsin, the American Family Children’s Hospital is ranked as a Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News and World Report. With more than 230 faculty physicians from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, expert nursing and therapeutic staff and state of the art medical equipment, American Family Children’s Hospital is one of the crown jewels of not only the Greater Madison area, but the entire region.

Grants
Foundation Grant Program
Each year in August, the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance hosts a grant cycle when nonprofit organizations serving communities in south-central and southeastern Wisconsin can apply for grant funding. Organizations and programs should be focused on building strong families and/or healthy kids. Awardees are notified in December of each year.

The 2024 Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation grant portal deadline has passed and is no longer accepting applications. The grant portal reopens in August 2025.
Community Impact
The Steve Stricker American Family Foundation has supported more than 800 nonprofit organizations through grants. Learn more about the Madison Reading Project, an organization providing free books to kids and their families.
Past Grant Recipients
Since inception of the Steve Stricker American Family Foundation, over 840 grants have been awarded to non-profit organizations supporting children and healthy families.
Scholarship
Foundation Scholarship Program
Since 2019, American Family Insurance and the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation have committed to funding scholarships for local high school students.
The scholarship application is available in January each year.
The scholarship program awards two deserving local high school seniors who meet the criteria and live in the Wisconsin counties of Dane or Rock. This year’s recipients will each receive a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year up to a total of four years).
Scholarship criteria for applicants is as follows:
- Student must be high school senior, and
- Earn at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and
- Demonstrate participation in the game of golf through competitive participation, recreational participation, employment at a golf course or retailer, caddying at a golf course, and/or by volunteering at a golf tournament, and
- Student must also display exemplary character, leadership and community service
