Proceeds from the PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship provide $10,000 scholarships to two students
The Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation announced today the recipients of scholarships for two area high school seniors: Bethany Vidruk of Milton and Jack Lutz of Waunakee.
Since 2019, the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation has committed to funding scholarships for local high school students. Each year, two deserving local high school seniors who meet certain criteria and live in the Wisconsin counties of Dane or Rock are awarded scholarships to help reach their educational goals. This year’s recipients will each receive a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year up to a total of four years).
2024 recipients
Bethany Vidruk will graduate from Milton High School this year. She started playing golf with her dad during Covid, and now, four years later, she has made two State Golf Championship appearances. In addition to her achievements in golf, Bethany has been actively involved in music, serving as a member and leader of the marching band, jazz band and concert ensembles. She has also dedicated numerous hours to community service through the local library and nonprofit organizations such as 4-H, Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.
Bethany will attend the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse next year to pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology before pursuing a master’s in sports psychology. Her career goal is to become a sports psychologist, aspiring to work with professional sports teams, athletes and Olympic programs. Once established in her career, she aims to use her psychology education and training to assist underserved communities.
Jack Lutz will graduate from Waunakee High School this year. For all four years, Jack has been on the golf and cross-country teams. He has been involved in SkillsUSA, Aviation Club, Auto Enthusiasts Club and the National Honor Society. Additionally, Jack is a Third-Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. He enjoys volunteering in the community, particularly at summer youth golf lessons.
This summer, Jack will continue working at Maple Bluff Country Club and recently earned a FAA Commercial Drone Certification. His goal is to find businesses that will hire him to record and edit drone footage for realtors, sports teams, golf courses, farms and more. With a special interest in cars, drones, aviation, meteorology, astronomy, photography and the newest technology, Jack plans to attend Minnesota State University, Mankato in the fall to study automotive engineering.
