Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation accepting 2024 local scholarship applications beginning January 25

Two $10,000 scholarships will be provided to students in Dane or Rock counties from PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship

January 25, 2024 — The application portal for the annual Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation scholarship program opens January 25. Two $10,000 scholarships ($2,500 per year up to a total of four years) will be awarded to deserving local high school seniors who meet certain criteria and live in the Wisconsin counties of Dane or Rock. The application period will close on March 4 at 3 p.m. central.

The scholarship program, which was introduced in 2019, is made possible with the proceeds from the PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship. This year’s championship raised a record $2.4 million, contributing to a total of more than $17.2 million distributed by way of 847 charitable grants since the inaugural tournament in 2016.

Last year’s scholarship recipients were Mackenzie Sloan, a graduate of Middleton High School, and Tyler Schick, a graduate of Sun Prairie East High School. Sloan now attends University of Wisconsin-Madison and Schick attends Lake Forest College in Illinois.

“In our fifth year of offering this local scholarship program, we’ll now be supporting a total of 10 students pursuing their educational dreams,” said Nate Pokrass, foundation executive director and American Family Insurance Championship tournament director. “This program aligns directly with the AmFam Champ’s overall mission of supporting communities and having a positive impact on families, and we’re proud to assist two more accomplished and deserving students with these scholarships.”
