Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation helps Edgerton Community Outreach combat hunger in North Rock County

The PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship raised a record $2.4 million in 2023. The Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation continues to make an impact in our communities, distributing more than $17.2 million via grants to 847 charitable organizations since 2016. As we lead up to the 2024 event, we highlight one of those organizations and their important work.

Edgerton Community Outreach, an organization dedicated to providing essential services to the North Rock County area in Wisconsin, has established itself as a pillar in the community to those in need by providing food, housing and emergency assistance. Support from the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation will further bolster the organization’s efforts to combat hunger and provide housing assistance to those in need in the community.

Edgerton, Wisconsin is also the hometown of tournament host, player and 2023 AmFam Championship defending champion, Steve Stricker.

Founded more than three decades ago, Edgerton Community Outreach has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals and families facing hardships. The organization offers a wide range of services, including housing assistance, youth programs, transportation aid, and a vital food pantry.

Sarah Williams, the executive director of Edgerton Community Outreach, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation. “We’ve been privileged to have a longstanding relationship with the foundation,” she said. “Their support has been instrumental in helping us expand our services and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.”

Alyssa Vis, director of programs at Edgerton Community Outreach, highlighted the significance of the grant in assisting essential programs. “The grant from the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation will primarily support our hunger programs, especially initiatives aimed at youth hunger,” she said. “We provide more than 600 meals per week through our school snack pack program, ensuring that students have access to nutritious food even outside of school hours.”

Darin Wellons, a beneficiary of Edgerton Community Outreach’s transitional living program, shared his personal journey and the benefits of the organization’s support. “I first came into contact with Edgerton Outreach over two years ago when I was living in a camper with my two kids. The transitional living program provided me with the opportunity to go back to school and rebuild my life. I’m now able to work part-time, attend school, and set a positive example for my children.”

Edgerton Community Outreach also gave back to the community while also showing their gratitude by providing a group of volunteers who worked at the 2023 AmFam Championship.

The grant from the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation will enable Edgerton Community Outreach to continue their work in providing essential services to those in need in the Rock County area.
